Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Telephone Service

What is VoIP?
VoIP stands for Voice of Internet Protocol, sometimes referred to as Internet Telephony, which is a way of making telephone calls without the need for a telephone line. Instead the calls are made over our broadband line by converting your analogue voice signals into digital signals which are transferred as data over the internet.
Why do I need VoIP?
Not only is a VoIP service cheaper than a Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) landline service, but the POTS network will cease to exist by December 2025. This means you will require a digital telephone service, such as VoIP, as an alternative solution to run a landline telephone number.
Do I need a fibre broadband connection?
It is certainly recommended, so that we can provide you with the best service possible across our product range. However, it is possible for us to provide the fone service to you should you prefer to stay with your current broadband service provider.
To operate a digital telephone service you do not require a superfast broadband connection but it should be a capable of around 10 Mbps minimum.
What does it cost?
We keep things simple and offer a single VOIP package which includes the following features:
- £16.00 per month with no hidden fees
- Option to retain your existing landline telephone number
- Future proof
- Voicemail services included
- 2000 UK minutes to landlines and mobiles per month
Do I need a new handset?
Not necessarily, you can use a variety of paid for and free VOIP apps on either your mobile telephone or computer, but if you wanted a handset then you must have hardware that is compatible with VoIP. You are free to purchase your own VoIP digital telephone unit or we offer a range of refurbished digital desktop and cordless VoIP telephones at reasonable prices.

Digital Telephone
We offer refurbished Yealink desktop and cordless telephone units that are VoIP compatible starting at £95.99. Please contact us for further information.
How long will it take to set up?
If you choose to have a random localised number then we can get you set up within 10 days, depending on your choice of telephone; using the free apps the set up time is only 3-5 days, whereas set up with a new desktop handset or an adapter for your current telephone will be 7-10 days from receiving your confirmed order.
Should you wish to transfer your existing landline number then the set up time is dictated by the time it takes the exchange to process your number transfer. This can be anywhere between 2-4 weeks and the switch from your previous service provider to fone will be automatic on a date provided by the exchange, who will noticy your current supplier of the switch in service, so you don’t have to do anything further.
